A leader in Philippine Aviation Education introduces driving lessons to its students.
With the aviation industry's growing demand for skilled labor, PATTS College of Aeronautics has recently signed an agreement with A1 Driving Company to equip future aviation professionals with the fundamentals of driving.
Technical students of PATTS taking up BS Aircraft Maintenance Technology and Aircraft Technician Course will undergo driving lessons during their sophomore year.
Dr. Emelita I. Javier, Vice-President for Student Affairs described the common dilemma encountered by fresh graduates when applying for jobs in the aviation industry, especially those involved in airport ground handling services. "Aviation firms prefer applicants with driving proficiency. It's a skill which I believe would give a PATTS graduate an edge over other applicants," she told Aeroscope.
The 20-hour lecture and driving lessons are facilitated by A1 Driving Training Center in Las Piñas. Students who pass the program are certified and are provided assistance during their driver’s license application at any Land Transportation Office (LTO) agency nationwide. Remedial classes are provided to those that require extra instruction.
For 40 years, A1 Driving Co. has educated Philippine drivers to make roads safer. A1 Driving Co. currently has 86 branches across the country and has established itself as the nation's Most Outstanding Driving School since 2001.
"What we can commit to PATTS is that A1 will give its best in honing the driving skills of its students,” explained A1 Assistant Vice-President Aljun C. Garcia. “The quality training we provide is sure to reflect on the student’s performance on the road.”
PATTS College of Aeronautics is the first higher education institution to partner with A1 Driving Co. to offer driver’s education to its students. The program is expected to give the students an edge in their future careers and equally as important, to improve road safety by producing well educated drivers.
